“Bryan is extremely engaging, encouraging and attentive. He always provides great feedback and does so in a non-demoralising way that I deeply appreciate. Additionally, he replies our emails almost instantaneously, and is always friendly and encouraging while doing so. Class is always such fun with him around, and I think that it's amazing to be taught by someone as talented as he is!”

“Extremely encouraging, very clear train of thoughts, and gives insightful comments that really helped in guiding me towards the right direction (not something that all my tutors can achieve). I personally do not gravitate towards or have a flair for 4D but I enjoyed his lessons so much because he speaks for this subject so appropriately and makes it seem so interesting.”

“Bryan encourages self-exploration of mediums and concepts and helped us learn a lot in this semester. The theory parts were taught in a clear manner (with clear notes online on oss to help us consolidate what we have learnt) and hence is easily absorbed. Furthermore, the assignments given helped us explore more mediums and ways to learn and kept us engaged and interested. :) thank you Bryan! it has been a great semester :")”

“He is very encouraging and enthusiastic during class. The feedback and comments he gives us are not only encouraging and supportive, but also very useful and gives us new viewpoints on our own work. He is also very relatable to us and constantly checks on us to see how we were coping.”

“ Bryan is an amazing tutor. He is very friendly and approachable, but also very focussed and remains very succinct in conveying concepts. I've learnt a lot in his class with his teaching as well as his resources on his OSS post which is very comprehensive. He also responds to our queries really quickly, which is very helpful! His comments also make me think harder and I feel like it really challenges me to work harder to think more complexly. I LOVE BRYAN'S LESSONS!!!”

“I literally have NEVER had a better teacher in my entire study life. Not only does he encourage you to do what you're good in, he also makes you feel good about your work and yourself. He makes me feel like I'm good enough. Something that I haven’t felt in a long time. And i truly truly appreciate it. THANKS BRYAN.”

“Bryan has a very fun and bubbly personality which really engages students during class. He always tries his best to help us to further develop our work during consultations. In critique sessions, he is encouraging but also gives constructive feedback and suggestions to better package the work. He also actively reaches out to us by asking about our wellbeing. It's a joy to be in his class and have him as a professor! I would definitely join his classes if there is a chance to do so!”

“I absolutely LOVED Bryan's classes, and I had so much fun in every single one of them. Bryan is engaging, understanding, encouraging, and such a joy to be around. He is very approachable, and his passion for the subject and for teaching is evident. I really appreciate how he introduces a variety of artists to us (fine artists, photographers) to broaden our views on art and art-making, as well as the films he shows us as they really aid in understanding the topic at hand better. Overall, Bryan is an excellent prof, and I cannot be more thankful to be a student in his class.”

“He is the nicest lecturer had met in ADM. He is very nice and interested in all of our submission and able to provide useful feedback that helps us to improve our work without doing too many extra works. His lesson is always very engaging and the assignment he gave also quite interesting. He allows us to do things that we enjoy lots and always hope that we are happy with the things we had done. The feedback he provided during the consultation is very useful. He is very clear and detail during teaching and he is very approachable.”

“Being a former ADM student, Bryan really knew where we were coming from and was an understanding person who was able to empathize with us. He helped me to open up my perspective and appreciate the media world a lot more, and although I might not be moving into the media stream, I will definitely remember and incorporate the knowledge and media terms learned from him and incorporate them into design context so as to be able to enhance my work and find ways I can fuse media and design together.”

“Enthusiastic, lively, animated during tutorials. Open, honest and non-judgemental behaviour also built a great rapport with students and provided a safe space for creative expression. Creative freedom of briefs and assignments also allowed greater space for us to explore our strengths and preferences, allowed greater incorporation of personal elements and style n allows us to truly own our work. Hence, we would put in 110% effort in them since we r more personally invested. Lessons are fun and I always look forward to them :)”

“Bryan was really engaging in his teachings. he makes me want to go for media art just to be in his classes HAHHA. prof also goes talks to us about more than just our assignments and consultations - he gives us pep talks and also encourages us to chase our dreams. i think he's very inspiring and he always puts us up. i think it means a lot as freshies in art school to have a prof that is so supportive in your lack and your skill. i feel very #supported and #encouraged whenever i get to interact with him. U DA BEST BRYAN!!”

“He is generally a very friendly and approachable professor which makes seeking help very undaunting and accessible. His use of various online platforms for student feedback makes it easier to correspond with him as well. He teaches classes in an engaging and succinct manner and does not go off-tangent from the main topic. His encouragement for creative freedom and personal concepts makes the class a very liberating one. He cares for his students' wellbeing through valuable advice on how to navigate the overall course, and puts in initiative to care.”

“4D has been my favourite subject this Semester. A big part of this is because of how Bryan conducts the lesson and how he gives us a lot of freedom to explore our creativity during our projects. I think Bryan is very insightful and is very quick to provide us with references that aids our ideation process. I really enjoy his lessons as they are engaging and motivates me to push boundaries as a creative.”

“Best teacher I've ever had. It is exciting, engaging and exhilarating to be in his classes. He's amiable and friendly. He made what could have been a possibly dry subject interesting and kept my attention the entire time. He's also empathetic and understanding, and if I have issues, I don't hesitate to be honest and express my frustrations. He's also helpful and encouraging. He gives positive feedback and good constructive criticism, which helps me learn. He communicates clearly, and his excitement and passion for his subject is contagious.”

CONCEPTS OF DIGITAL IMAGING

“I love teachers who teach step by step. I feel like i learn a lot in this module through the way he teach and his assignments really force you to think about concepts and he provide good explanation to what concept is really about. His assignments have a right dose of intensity that value adds. I'm really glad his assignments is not like other mods which are intensive but you gain nothing out of it. Structured supplements and clear assignment plan from 1-4 is lovely. Clear lesson plans/module outline like his is what i want for my other cores in adm. Not those you can tell the teacher has no clue what their students will be doing for the sem and their grading rubrics is vague as hell. Lastly, he cares about the welfare of the students and find that it's easy to talk to him as the way he speaks doesn't seem to be judging which is absolutely what students need when they need guidance or a listening ear.”

“Bryan is very good at what he teaches in his classes & his consults were very helpful even when you are lost in the project & he will provide you with feedback to derive a concept for your project. Whatever you were lost or didn't know, he would be able to help you with it & this was a restriction for all the courses I have taken so far in ADM as usually, a professor would require you to have something started before he/she can work with. Bryan, on the other hand, provides you with well-thought feedback that really aids with your assignment. Also, he is very receptive to ideas & is accepting of whatever style a certain student has, this was especially great as most professors I felt have a certain style or expectation in their assignments, and it feels like I have to cater to what they like. Bryan grades us in our own style or approach to the assignment which was very comforting to know that he was very open to various forms of ideas whether complex to simple, he sees it for what it is & not what it should be for him. This is encouraging especially in art school where you want to develop your own personal style & Bryan truly pushes us for that. I have enjoyed most of his lessons & consults.”

“He always encourages us to push further with our ideas by giving us constructive feedback along the way and even during critic, he gives good feedback so that we can work on it better in future. He gives well written notes for all of us to refer to and since it’s a technical class, I really appreciate it. He always encourages us to push further with our ideas by giving us constructive feedback along the way and even during critic, he gives good feedback so that we can work on it better in future.”

“By far the most well-prepared lecturer I had in though in my life! Filled with great industry tips to have non-destructive manner to work on works! Never knew there could be such a way to work on images! Very skilled! Though it does take some time for me to soak it in since i am too used to using destructive manner of work and photoshop has always been a trial and error way of approach with no one guiding me. With Bryan he gave me a whole new outlook at how I approach my ow of work! Thumbs up!!”

“I would say that Bryan's approachable nature is one of his best strengths as a teacher. His friendly and warm demeanour makes it easy for us to ask questions or contact him outside of class time. Normally when consulting a teacher through emails outside of class, I am somewhat hesitant as I often worry about whether I am bothering them too much or I am not phrasing my questions clearly enough. With Bryan, not only does he reply fast, but his feedback is very useful and timely. Adding to the fact that his tone in those emails still maintain that friendly attitude in class. In class, I could walk up to Bryan during breaks and just talk to him about stuff that may not necessarily even relate to the class, and he will still listen intently and try to help me through my problems. I was afraid that it would be too personal for me to bring it up, but Bryan was very understanding and handled my questions with much grace, humility and experience. I walked away from those conversations having a clearer view of how I should deal with my problems. So a thousand thanks Bryan.”

“Bryan's feedback can be summed up as that wise and worldly adviser that a King has in his court. Ever present at important moments, always off to the side and never pushing to hard. He treats us like adults, in a sense that while he will give you advice or suggestions as to how to execute our concept/idea, he ultimately leaves it up to us and never tries to impose his own preferences on our work. To put it simply, he does not hold our hand all the way when it comes to our creative process and instead tries to give feedback that is constructed within what we want to do. Providing alternatives to execute our vision but that is all they are: alternatives and not instructions.”

“Still one of the best and most enjoyable hires ADM has made, thank you for being a teacher that really helps us keep our passion going for the Arts. And thank you Bryan for pushing us on through this journey!”

“Bryan is genuinely one of my favourite tutors and I feel like I can trust him to understand where my work is coming from, or even if it is very different from what he is used to, he respects the thought and the intention of it very much. It makes me feel encouraged in a way that I sometimes do not get in my other classes. Bryan is very warm and friendly too and I can really say that he has been very important to my creative journey in ADM... without his encouragement I might have chosen to switch to Design but he has always helped me to realise that spaces in ADM do exist for the kind of work I want to create, and if there aren't, to push ahead anyway.”

“Bryan is a very encouraging and enthusiastic individual who helped us develop not only skills wise, but also critical thinking and self-reflection. He allowed us a safe space to explore ourselves, along with the art we are creating. Students were often encouraged to go wild with our imaginations. What I love most about Bryan's class is he does not force students to fit into a certain mould. Understanding that the class consists of a broad spectrum of art students specializing in different fields, he makes the assignments flexible so that each student can demonstrate their own strength. Bryan's class is one of my favourites this semester and I thoroughly enjoyed the learning process :)”

“Encourages individuality and is able to give immediate feedback and suggestions for each students' project. Able to build on each individual students' strengths and weaknesses and wants to help each of us showcase our own vision :) ! Also provides very relevant materials and clear instructions to follow in case we get lost, and is always available to help. Takes initiative to encourage growth in our art and pursuits.”

“As always, Bryan is such a wonderful professor to have, and he always manages to make classes really enjoyable, no matter how dry or technical the content is. He is a great mentor and supporter, and does not hesitate to help, no matter how simple the problem is. He really goes above and beyond when it comes to encouraging students, and he really never fails to put people at ease. It was such a joy to have him this semester, and I'm so thankful I was a student under his class!! ADM please do cherish this prof, he is a keeper!”

“Bryan is very encouraging and always urges us to challenge ourselves further. He understands that we are all from different background with different skillsets and hence will explain really simply and clearly. He never hesitates to explain again and also uploads step by step guides on OSS for our reference. I like how he appreciates everyone's works yet also gives advice on how to further push it to be better.”

“Strengths includes - energy, rubs off in his classes and it makes me excited to attend classes and learning new things - encouragement, Bryan never uses words that demotivates students, even when works are not of high standards, there is always space to improve and grow in his class. - flexibility, classes are available physically and online for every lesson, allowing students to attend his lessons anywhere anytime”

“Bryan is so fun and approachable which makes every single lesson enjoyable. We can also see that he is extremely knowledgeable in his field and does the best he can to impart that knowledge to us. He is also very encouraging and ensures that he gives valuable, constructive and customised feedback to each and every student. This helps us recognise our strengths and the areas that we need to work on as well. Thank you Bryan! I really enjoyed your classes.”

“He seems very passionate about what he does and I feel that this is especially evident when he teaches classes. He is also quite funny at times and this helps to lift the mood up, especially when class gets dry or monotonous. I really appreciate how he encourages us to just let our imaginations run wild and offers inspiration/resources we can try using in our work. Overall, I just like that he is a very open-minded and knowledgeable professor. During consultations, he always gives really good reference artwork/artists to check out for inspiration. I also appreciated the fact that he did a one-to-one talk about our future plans/career paths, it was a great way to ask questions about the industry from someone so experienced and to also be reassured about my creative abilities.”

“He is very accepting of everyone's different art styles and is always encouraging his students to do what they want to do. His passion for art and teaching is visible in every lesson and every feedback session. Surprisingly, he is the only teacher so far who has not shown clear bias toward art styles and work styles of certain students and is always very fair. He is a true art teacher and it is always a pleasure to attend his classes. Other teachers should learn from him.”

“Bryan is amazing at teaching! Truly an expert at what he does and is very patient with his students while teaching. I was scared at first to do an art class because I know how subjective art is (as in two people can have very opposing views on the same artwork), but Bryan was very skilled at not letting his own bias and personal likes/dislikes come into his teaching style. He also gave constructive criticism that helped us excel. Really good at making use of every second of the 3 hour time slot he has been given. Mastered teaching methods when it comes to student engagement, information retention, and breaking down content into bite size chunks so everyone can understand. Bryan was also always willing to lend a helping hand outside of class hours. The only class that I can honestly say gave me an insight as to what working in this field will look like, if I ever choose to do so. Last but not least, there were some people in the class that were photo majors and some that had never even touched a dslr camera before, it was amazing to witness his ability to share concepts and techniques that everybody benefited from!”

“I really do learnt a lot under his guidance. He is always very enthusiastic and passionate in the class which makes the 3 hrs lesson goes by very quick and fun. I really do enjoy going to his classes every week. He always give his advice and feedback personalised to each and every one of us. This really helped me achieved much more and gained much more experience. Thank you Bryan, hope you continue to inspire students to find their creative identity.”

“Bryan is genuine, fun and kind. I thoroughly enjoy and look forward to his classes. He has created a comfortable learning environment where we are able to discuss issues, address concerns, and ask questions openly. He also gives constructive feedback instead of just comments, and reminds us that we are still able to have authority over our work and intentions.”

“Bryan really is enthusiastic about his subject matter, and his enthusiasm is infectious! Always excited to head to his lesson to see what we can learn for the day!”

“Bryan sets clear expectations of the course, and everything he teaches in class is also available on the OSS site, which makes it really easy to recall lessons or refer back to when we forget or miss something. He also teaches us to be work-ready, and often shares about real-life experiences which I feel is valuable for us who are entering the work force soon.”

“Extremely fantastic class! I thoroughly enjoyed it and I would love to take more classes under Bryan in future. I look forward to every lesson and it made me step out of my comfort zone to try out new things. I am excited to implement what I've learnt into my future works!”

“Bryan is generous in sharing his industry experience regarding workow and approaching challenges. He is extremely nurturing and focuses on each individual in the class and works with their interests and strengths. I enjoyed my consultations with him as he is both critical and encouraging at the same time. He acknowledges each student's workload and effort while pushing everyone to do the best they can.”

“Bryan is extremely helpful and he does not hesitate to share his knowledge with us. I appreciate his forthcoming attitude which made learning easier! His comments on assignments and projects are helpful and prompt, which greatly helped me in bettering my skills in post-production!”

“Very well articulated and entertaining in class. He makes coming to class fun and wonderful, allowing us to exercise our creativity in almost unrestricted ways really helps. The time allocated is something that I really appreciate as it allows me to think deeply about my work, allowing me to properly create and produce work that I am ultimately proud of.”

“Is exemplary of how a teacher should be. Is the one to actually teach the students and not rely on other sources. Very technically knowledgeable in his field of expertise and has a lot to teach.”

“Bryan is a very respectable teacher his passion and enthusiasm towards the class made the students want to do well. I felt I got more drive to do better because I wanted to make Bryan proud rather than focusing on the mark at the end.”

“Bryan is one of my favourite teachers! He gives great constructive feedback and often encourages critical thinking. He also checks in with the students to make sure that they are on the right track. He has the best resources in his classes and I truly enjoy the material that is taught. Everything is easily accessible and if you had questions or doubts, he was readily available to be of help. Excellent teacher.”

“Absolutely brilliant and encouraging! And he always gives very objective feedbacks to help improve our work, not to bring us down Energetic even though it’s so early”

“There is so much to say! First and foremost, I've always wanted to say this so I'll say it now. He's the one true catalyst of my love for editing! I used to think I was more of someone who liked being behind the camera more but now I find that the balance has slightly shifted. I can confidently say that the knowledge he bestows will definitely help me in the future! Another thing I'm supppppperrrrrr grateful for is how he always tries to project positive vibes and liven the class atmosphere, it's a breath of fresh air from other classes and really allows us to relax and feel more at ease. Even though the class is fairly technical at times, he will accommodate the people who aren't as clear and slow down, or even just go over to them and attempt to help them in anyways possible. He also stays past class-time to ensure that each person gets their time for consultation and that's something I truly respect! I can also feel Bryan's genuine concern towards each and every one of us. At times, he somehow sniffs out the emotional instability and plunging sanity, and goes beyond that to take the time to ask on us and even try to offer his help in whatever we need, and that includes matters that reside outside of the classroom. Lastly, I really, really, really, really, really have to thank Bryan for his constant encouragement. I'm SO grateful to have met him at the time I did as it was during that period where I was greatly lacking artistic confidence. Although he does say that my work is "all me", I think that was because from the beginning when I was a lost little sheep, he steered me gently and carefully into a direction where I now possess more clarity and feel more grounded to establish my own unique artistic vision. Truly #pillarof$upport. To end off, I am thankful for his existence in my life as a mentor, and honestly, his entire existence. He has brought so much joy and insight and I will never, never, NEVER forget the words of wisdom he has imparted.”

“I never knew I would say this, but after our last class Monday, I believe I will miss this class (out of the many classes I've taken in NTU ADM). Bryan is on top of his industry matched skills for photo imaging and retouching. He is ever so generous in sharing his ideal workow, imparts and emphasizes on a good non-destructive editing photoshop workow to us. He is such an overall joy to be around and his critiques are always so encouraging and constructive. Through this course, I was able to complete work that best represents who I am.”
